The Nantucket Lovesearch Disaster

The first lovesearch took place relatively late in Sir Michael's life. Believing first in kismet, Michael posted an ad early in his electronic guise at the land of Globe, which is no more. The first one to respond had to be the one, Sir Michael reasoned. That would only be fitting. Maria was the first one to respond, her photo showed an attractive, young lass of only 34 years. In the year of our lord One Thousand, Nine Hundred Ninety Nine, Sir Michael began to correspond with Maria. Over the course of time, not much time, about four months, and almost 200 emails, the two decided to meet.

The destination for the first Quest was the Isle of Nantucket, a small island off the far eastern coast of Massachusetts. The trip would be long, the cost prohibitive, but eased somewhat by new Platinum Mastercards, the card of the realm.

Sir Michael set off to the small isle, in hopes he had found his other half.

He was wrong.

She didn't live there.

(caveat: After transcribing the Nantucket Lovesearch Disaster Diary online in October of 2000, in part to cleanse myself of the traumas I suffered when this little tempest tossed adventure began, I was surprised to find that Maria had actually read the diary, and didn't bear me any ill will, either. Last I heard, she moved away from, but then moved back to Nantucket. I still write her email periodically. And I still feel a love for her.)
