Five Minutes In Heaven

I'm sitting in my existence
Reasoning all the time
Asking nonexistant questions
Which haven't reason nor rhyme
I've seen you oft before, I know
You say "hi" with sincere smile
But yesterday after you offered a beer
I wanted to have known you all the while

I'm a useless eccentric
A valueless extreme
I'm amounting to nothing
Except in winsome dream
I realize everyone feels like that
And I'm not alone in the world
But I feel I've missed something
if we can't but chat
Cause I feel you're a very special girl.

I can't realize an attraction
I can't read other people's minds
But I felt something more or less special
When I looked into your eyes.
Your smile tells me you are terrific
Yours eyes tell me you are supreme
I'd be coming on much too strong I know
If I said I think I met you in a dream.

Let me look into your eyes
Let me see them smile
Let me get to know you
Just for a little while?
I've never known just what love is
Although I've written too many poems
Maybe you could help me
find out what love is?
And then I'll be guided home.

for Sherry
