Poetry by Michael F. Nyiri
Fadeout
I grasp the waiting string of love
And dangle in abysses wide
I hope for searching glances sweet
And pray for emotion from her side.
I know I ask for what I get
I see the visions I invent
I always hope for unseen love
But clamor for the love in sight. In a mirror glancing freely
Showing facets major living
Dreaming wanting holding close
The memories of darkest careAnd I will ride the veil of love
To satisfy my whims of pride
Like those I often scorned before. Is life asking too much to say
"Why can't I be loved"
And then when you are to be
Struck dumb with yours.I cannot see how I can love
So, as I've predicted, I betray
deeds and trusting
And violate advances
And mark hours of retreats.I cannot live like this
Making my whole life a joke
Manufacturing girlfriends at my leisure
And feeling so good with
Unparalleled conquests.Life was easier in highschool
With those ever-tossed visions
of Rah-rahs in bed--And now the visions are realities
And the love I searched for is
Lost
And I don't know how to turn it
off--
And I really don't want to somehow.I learn the words to all the tunes
And scream in passion words of woe
I seem to like the situation
And break the hearts as on I go.
