Untitled IV
Viewing the world as I have come to know it I step into the chasm of unbelieving. The people I have known, Two faces touching their own worlds, Pass before my eyes in endless multitude. Changing ever so slightly as the days pass Becoming different Adorning new facades While trying to break the old ones. We're growing up each moment I can pause to think Yet I'm struck with the continuous wonder That people aren't at all what they seem. A preacher citing the ills of mankind A friend confiding about a lost love A passer-by inquiring about the time New and better masks are put on everyday We tend to criticize the others And wave a hand away at ourselves I can't believe it All different yet all the same The people I have known And people in general
