1971 Poetry by Michael F. Nyiri

Winnie the Pooh
Rudy Valle's still singing through his phone
Byrd is on the pole so all alone
The flappers are a dancin'
Six white horses are a prancin'
And the big top tented circus' come to town.

Christopher Robin is alive today
And Winnie the Pooh is feeling fine
Turn around people
Look at what they do
Will live for a long, long time.

Doug MacArthur's pulling troops back home
The cowboy's got nowhere to roam
FDR is fireside chattin'
Joe the stoolie's still a rattin'
On his friends in all the B-rate picture shows

And cars are getting lower all the time
Mickey Mouse has a television shine
Louis is a hittin'
Beatty's fightin' kittens
John Swayze's laying it right on the line

Christopher Robin is alive today]
And Winnie the Pooh is feeling fine
Turn around people
Listen what they say
Will live for a long, long time.

Spike Jones on the Victrola
And folks drink Pepsi-Cola
Shooting water from a gun
Looks like it would be fun
Pretty Boy is on the loose
Tweren't so bad since John Wilkes Booth
And it's Howdy Doody time
And shaving creme is lime
And rockets to the moon
And rock and roll is fast
And Anchorage is in ruin
And Mets are not in last
It's over all so fast
But then it comes again.

Christopher Robin is alive today
And Winnie the Pooh is feeling fine
Turn around people
Listen what they say Will live for a long, long time. Yethirr.
