Reflections From the Other Side

If by chance we should meet on a sidewalk,
I will turn my head away.
I will try to calm past feelings
That were forsaken yesterday.
Why did we join together for those few months?
Why did we hover close to love?
I still don't understand your nature
And I still hae something to give.

There's a place I see inside me
Where we used to lie and dream.
And take our walks by the roadside
And feel the grass with our feet
And a week ago you stood there
And my affection had nothing to meet.

You were once the darling I held close,
The person I wanted to share.
Then for some reason you were acting different
I could tell there was nothing there.
Why did we try to be lovers?
Why di dyou lead me on?
There are cares in this world somewhere.
But they're missing, no more, they are gone.

My love was a paper
And yours was the knife
It severed so smoothly,
So clean.
But my paper is torn
It can never be mended
And you turned away,
None you'd seen.
