Just Can't Get it Back

We came together
For that brief instant
And we cared
For a while.

Then he came back
Into your world
And to save face
You went to him.

For nights I cried
But you were happy
And he never knew
And then he left.

You were now alone
You were craving love
You were on the threshold
And he let you go.

I was once in love
I loved you so much
Now you come to me
And there's nothing there.
