1971 Poetry by Michael F. Nyiri

Depression III
Every sunny day begins with darkness
And when the world is awakened
There is a ray of hope
In every individual
As he sees the flowers
And hears the birds
Sweetly singing o'er the skies

The day begins so beautifully
Sun breaks through the black
And spreads its warmth
Among the people
They bask in it
For a small time
Before their worries come back

Then depression hits like an anvil
The momentum cannot be stopped
All who have it feel it
And the brightness
Stays in the day
But only serves as an ironic background
To the person who does not welcome it
