October 15, 1999 poetry by Michael F. Nyiri

"Surges, again"

I'm feeling all those urges, again.
Those rich romantic surges, again.
They bide their time, they make me rhyme,
A puzzled, yearning grin.
I'm feeling all those urges, again.

I'm waiting for the moment, my dear.
That very special moment is near.
I feel it in my very bones,
The spirits rage, the Gods atone,
And still you're never there, love, I fear.

I'm crying as I write this, you see.
I'm filled with such false serenity.
I know you're out there waiting,
And have been commiserating,
And very soon you'll find me, you'll see.

The storms come and yet I feel a peace,
I need you for that yearning, at least.
But I never seem to find you,
And I cannot seem to hear you,
Come near me,
whisper care, love, won't you please.
