"A Short History of Memory"

A long time ago, I remember,
     Another October,
     Approaching November,
     A wrong turn, mistreated,
     Spurned, shouting, maligned.
     Remember the letdown,
     Astounding sublime.

It wasn't easy, but it seems
     					Like it was ancient.
I can speak to you clearly,
     				But it seems so venerable.
The clouds fell in the sky,
     					As you drove away,
And I screamed with pain in pleasure.

     Amongst the pained, pallid
     Feeble reminiscences I cry,
A monstrous folly of the mind.
     Rabid, red robust feeling,
Arranging for the an emotional drain,
     My feelings run fleetingly,
     Knowing splendid refrain.

     				A memory schooled in feebleness
A sorry replacement for sad tenderness
A flimsy book of life cliffs notes
Needing a good shot of presence
And a goodson receiving his presents.
Every now and then memory fails me
And I forget how hard it seemed then.
