"Ode to Heartbreak"

My love is strong, and it will never go away
As you walk past me, you still
looked delicious today

You've screamed with a voice
I won't hear, And you gave me
Cold shivers, my dear.

I cannot flip emotion like a switch
I cannot drown my tears and be cold steel
Your moods are closed I can't tell which
Way you expect me to feel.

You said I'd miss you
And I do
But you never told me what I did wrong

You didn't say goodbye
I'm in the air
Writing poetry
Waiting for you to smile
At me again.

I'll say I'm sorry
But it's such a feeble excuse
I guess I haven't been
As I should be.

I want to read your mind
I want to look into your eyes
I want to hear you say you love me

I'm still holding up my care
Although I fear
Without you I'll turn cold again.

I'll take a few minutes to
think of you-
I'll stumble through confusion
And try to fathom your
Dissatisfaction

You were never my "toy"
I cannot own another human being
We have to be equal
We have to free our feelings
And soar to eternity together

I would fly with you
I could never fly alone

Someday you'll feel like you can
tell me
And I'll know what happened
to us
I never meant to hurt you
And I hurt so much
You'll never know.
