Poetry Didn't Exist For Two Years

A blight wiped out all creativity for years. The clouds darkened the horizon, and I stopped drinking, and got back to work. I had obtained employment from Gemco stores, and I lived with a close gay friend in Redondo Beach. (This was years before gays were immersed in straight popular culture, so I was ahead of the curve.) These were the days of MTV, cocaine parties, and rampant hedonism at home. At work everything was business as usual. I went on strike in late 1985 for most of the holiday season. Ironic twist that I had started work in the Christmas Tree lot two years earlier. Not a very poetic time.
