Why I'm Not Smiling
An exercise in futility
You ask me why my permanent frown
Won't crack a smile and will never back down
I reply it's a lie that we all can't feel fine
Existing today in this hell of a time
I get by, unexcited from day in and out
Life became routine, nothing to shout about
If, as I've believed, I'm the architect
of my own fate
Then the building fell down cause
the plans came too late
I want to try, to feel emotion and warmth
supreme
But my receiver's been broken and I've
turned off the beamThe poems are tired: inspiration unfound
With a steely cold gaze and a
permanent frown.
