"Passion Play"

ACT ONE

Karen, are you carin' for me?
Is this a remote possibility?
Diane, did the plan fade away?
Did you forget what we promised on that day?
Cathy, can you hear me through the years?
Or would you ever wipe away the tears?

It's over: Act One of the Passion Play
The critics were divided on that day
There was a signal set for summoning the crew
Better get ready for Act Two.

ACT TWO

Sweetheart, I'm not streetsmart any more
Let the janitors just wipe away the floor
Honey, hand me down my walking shoes
I'm always this way when I'm feeling the blues.
Listen, I'm not pissin' way my pride
But all the lovers' left locked up inside

It's over: Act Two of the Passion Play
The tone's so sad the customers shouldn't pay
Open up the doors, let 'em in for free
Open up the curtain for Act Three

ACT THREE

Kathryn, were you running out of time?
Was loving you that big of a crime?
Donna, did it dawn on me at all
I should have been at your beck and call?
Emma, you were a dilemma on my mind
I hope you got what you were trying to find.

It's over: Act Three of the Passion Play
It'll run thirty years if it runs a day
I'll sit back and won't put up a fight
And the play will close after tonight.
