"Mother
Departed This Afternoon"
Poetry by Michael F. Nyiri
December 3rd, 7:47 a.m. pst
(for Lisa)
Mother departed this afternoon
We had so much to say
But she left us too soon
No matter how long one lives
Or short on this Earth
When closing the door
We will feel their whole worth
Jesus will part the curtain
for entrance
And one long look back on the stair
We will wave with exuberance
Gaze through the distance
And pray with a power
In our hearts she'll be there
In memory's bower
With lasting pure love
As our tears finally dry
But they don't
We will join her in time
And we know she is better
But this nagging
Harsh grief
Stop it won't
