"Valentune Part II"
Friday, February 13th, 2004 6:00 p.m.pst
(an exercise in spontaneous poetry 9)
I will sing for you a valentune
In hopes to win your heart
I will lift my voice to heaven
And the start will soon impartI have sang till hoarse, and the
words drip with cynical pain
But I steel my resolve,
And I give it all for the refrain.Sometimes I think of the past as a place
And to visit is to make the problems erase
And to react to the conversations
with people long past gone
And to laugh with the imagined throngso I will continue to sing my valentune
And toast the lucky and those in love tonight
But I will climb in my sheets in silence
And turn out the light goodnight.
