"I Read the News Today Ohboy"

(an exercise in spontaneous poetry 6)

People choose a candidate because they think people will vote for him
Punditry perceived by the masses.
One company wants to buy another until there's only a few left
Then when their accounting practices
show that the emporer's new clothes shouldn't have cost that much
They go out of business
Taking thousands of jobs with them
But the economy's better sure it is.

There are three major markets in California
And they're on strike
for almost half a year now.
How can you not cross a picket line to buy your food
With which to eat?

Celebrities are candidates again,
And then the world watches
And everyone punditizes.
You could watch tv instead,
But the only thing on is reality.

I choose to watch a movie,
And listen to music.
Meddle again with memory
And face a new day tomorrow.
When I fire up the car and turn the station to the news.
