"To Anyone Reading My Diary Tonight"
It's been a rotten life
Moldy, decaying, done
Ashes to ashes cold steel to the flame
Stringent, sullied strife
Unwarranted, wanted and undone
Waiting for the folly or the fameBut shining through the dirt
The dust
The dankA jolly sunshine peers from out my soul
Ebullient, enlightened, alive
And hurried haloes springing from the hurt
Raging sadness, broken body whole
Scathing, scandolous delight
From a deep place, pulsing, comes the driveAnd shining with a goal
Past rust
Full blankDear diary are you sane indeed?
Do you hear the pleadings that I heed?
Do you answer with a helpful heart
Or do you play a larger part?
Dear diary are you my other half?
Do pain and pleasure, mixing paths
Become as one with the universe
Soothing the lies, the calm before the hearse.Or do you exist to laugh and to spurn?
To act like the ones in life I needed to shun?
Do you answer with a helpful heart
And are you helping me with another start?
Dear Diary, is anyone listening true?
Do I have the answers, or do you,
Or you,
Or you.
?To anyone reading my diary tonight,
The history might be bitter
But through my plight, there shines that light.
To hopefully calm the fears of fright
In anyone reading my diary tonight.
