The decade of the Aughts

"As Far As Spirit Goes, I Tread a Spirit Path"

Again I look around and I am saddened by the actions of a few
Raging emotions causing riots after what should be ceremonial affairs,
And a ripping of the friendship threads that threaten friendship in their stead.
I am torn apart as well, because I always feel that humanity
Scarcely knows her own way.

I am torn in two today
But I swear never to lose my way.

People I know I pray for daily

Young Women with full lives and exhuberant families
Feel a pain and before we have a chance to realize what's happening,
They are lying in the coffin, and being sorely missed.

Younger boys with their lives ahead of them
Feel a pain and before we have a chance to realize what's happening,
They are back in the hospital and more tissue is being torn away.

The infections spread like water down a sieve,
And we brave the forces of nature and live.

I realize Humanity breathes with many lungs,
And teaches with many lessons.
I realize Humanity doesn't have a clue at times,
Because the times are filled with lesions.

We have to band together as one voice, and sing a song of spirited refrain,
Or else we will never be as one again.
We have to cast aside our differences and believe in the Ultimate Truth
We have to be strong in our Spirit, wisdom age and exhuberant youth.
We have to live each day
As if it were our last
And reach out to all who need us
And we need to do this fast.

We are Humanity's face, and we need to look in the mirror more often,
Get used to the fact we aren't perfect,
Before we get our chance to lie in the coffin.

I look around as I have for centuries, see the troubles at the Staples Center
And see the Spirit at Tiennenmen Square,
And the loss of the Spirit only makes me
Want to spread more of the Spirit there.
The Spirit at Tiennenmen moves me,
More often than not these days,
I look around, and will not be defeated,
I will thank God for my nights and my days.
